The proteins of the small subunit (SSU) of the bacterial ribosomal.
Variant codes:

1 - has valid bacterial subsystem
9 - missing proteins due to partial genome

+0.100 - has S1p
+0.010 - has S21p
+0.001 - has Thx

Every organism has a functional system. There are only a few known variants,
but there are many partial genomes missing genes, so they are not subdivided.

S21p is not present in high-G+C gram positives

Thx is only found in Thermus and plastids.
Thx ref: Choli, T., Franceschi, F., Yonath, A. and Wittmann-Liebold, B. 1993. Isolation and characterization of a new ribosomal protein from the thermophilic eubacteria, Thermus thermophilus, T. aquaticus and T. flavus. Biol. Chem. Hoppe-Seyler 374: 377-383.

S22p is only in E. coli and relatives. It has now (2007-11-21) been renamed "Stationary-phase-induced ribosome-associated protein", and moved to "Ribosome activity modulation"
